In MLM each distributor is an Independent Business Owner however successful sponsors recognize that although their down-line does not report to them they are in business together. Establishing a team atmosphere and mutually supportive relationship is what will separate you from the thousands of other sponsors out there.

Building a productive team out of a diverse set of individuals who are in essence in competition with one another is a challenge. Your first objective is to build a team of two between you and your down-line client. I use the term client to refer to down-line distributors as you are providing a service to them in the form of training and coaching in return for their vote of confidence and portion of financial success seen. Although you are in no way accountable for the success of your down-line it is in your best interest to give them everything they need to succeed. This is why I spend so much time and energy developing training and coaching.
Building a team starts by enlisting others into a common shared vision of the future.
Communicating this vision in such a way that inspires another to adopt it automatically creates a connection. Many have misconceptions and preconceived notions about MLM that prevents you from being able to share your passion for it with friends and family. This is where you can make a real connection with your down-line as you both share this common interest. Oh yeah…don’t worry about the family they will be begging for more information once you see the success you are looking for.
The most important relationship you will establish will be between you and your down-line client. However establishing a supportive relationship between all of your down-line distributors can have a significant impact on each member’s level of success and how long it takes to achieve it.
If you can establish a way for your down-line members to see success much quicker through team work, communicate the value of working together to each and then facilitate the process you will have established yourself as a true leader.
Network Marketing Leaders Identify & Leverage Strengths
Network Marketing leaders are adept at identifying an individual’s strengths and bringing them out of an individual to the fullest extent possible. They also look for ways to leverage these strengths in such a way as to compensate for any weaknesses. In the context of team building I always look for opportunities for bartering between members to create the infamous win/win scenario.
For example say you have a work-at-home mom on your team who absolutely loves to write. She really has found her niche and she is absolutely amazing at it. She can write five high quality content pages a day and is extremely focused giving one hundred percent every day. You also have a talented graphic artist on your team that works full time, is in school but is also committed and finds an hour a day to work on his business. He struggles with building content but once he does he creates impressive graphics. You see where this is going right? These two could easily form a mutually beneficial relationship that would increase the quality of both parties’ sites while expediting the process of building their businesses.
Network Marketing Leaders Build a Community to Share Information
Creating a sense of community or an actual community for that matter can facilitate this process in ways you may never have dreamed of or simply do not have the time to do yourself. Offering your team a vehicle to communicate with one another can be highly beneficial however you must still lead this initiative to realize the maximum benefit from it. Individuals do not join social communities or participate in them for no reason so again you must provide a strong incentive for active participation. Facilitating the conversations and making it a source of valuable information is critical for success and well worth the time and energy.
There are so many ways of accomplishing this objective today that I really don’t need to elaborate much further. Building your own inner circle community may be your end in mind but free tools like facebook, myspace, twitter etc… can facilitate the process of establishing communication between members of your down-line as well. Of course the easiest and most cost effective vehicle for communication is e-mail. Used properly it can be your most effective leadership tool.

Virtual teams are built through communication. The internet and related technologies have made it easy to connect in ways we have never been able to before. Within an hour we can create and publish video blogs right from our office. However good old fashioned e-mail is still the absolute most effective means of establishing team communication. There are a few key components to writing a good e-mail you might want to review but in a nutshell you can never over-communicate with your down-line. Newsletters are designed for potential customers and prospects. Simple straight forward e-mail is designed for one-on-one and team conversation. Network Marketing leaders foster a team environment by fostering e-mail discussion.
Network Marketing leaders are good communicators and build teams by clearly communicating the common objectives and how working together can help each to see success quicker. This is an important component of the networking in Network Marketing.
