If you have done a good job questioning you will have discovered what they feel their greatest challenge is. You may have been able to attain self-discovery as to a root cause simply through this process. However if you haven’t it is a good idea to do a mini analysis to see if there is any additional guidance you could provide.



The problem is the simple fact that “we don’t know what we don’t know” so during your inquiry phase you may come across a situation where your down-line client knows what is wrong (e.g. I am not seeing results) but doesn’t know why (e.g. They do not convey confidence.)

• Q & A: Often you can ask a few simple questions to understand what the problem is and get at the driving force of the issue.
• Review: Sometimes reviewing your down-line’s efforts directly is much more enlightening than a conversation whether it is taking a look at their web pages, advertisements, newsletters etc…
• Back Office: Ultimately leaders are analysts and this is where most people struggle. If you have built a strong relationship with your down-line distributor and they are open to it doing a data analysis for them using their back-office can help you help them.

It is far better to show someone the reason for a problem than a fix for it. It is far easier however to share quick fixes. A root cause is the underlying issue that has manifested as the problem. For example if your client was to say that they just couldn’t come up with any topics to write about it is easy to give them a list of solutions.

They could subscribe to related newsletters, do search engine research, competitor analysis etc… But if the root cause of the “writers block” is actually a lack of confidence in their writing ability these techniques would do little use.

Focusing your coaching efforts on building their writing skill and offering to serve as a proof-reader or editor would be much more useful. Then providing positive feedback as their ability grew would instill confidence. With this confidence this client may go on to build a bigger business than you writing on topics you would have never thought of. This would be a truly amazing Multi Level Marketing coaching success story. In this way you can help “teach them to fish” and feed their family for a lifetime.

Document: Collecting Multi Level Marketing Coaching Success Data Points

Create a file for each of your distributors and document your discussions and action steps. This will help you keep on track so the next time you conduct a coaching session with them you can pick up right where you left off. It also serves the purpose of providing valuable data as time goes on.

If your client is truly committed to their success and you are of value to them your relationship will last for quite some time. Over multiple coaching sessions you will have discussed many topics. By keeping a file you can review it to see if any trends pop up.

This is not intended to hold people accountable or anything “evil” like that! (smile) It is just another tool you can use as a coach to help your client grow and see success. Most of the data you will collect will be on successes as your primary goal is always to inspire. Everyone faces struggles and moments of doubt.

As you develop your skill remember that being positive, having uplifting conversations and inspiring your clients is really what it is all about.
