The question I most often get as an MLM trainer and consultant is how to sell without delivering a pitch. If you are familiar with my methods you know that I do not advocate pitching your MLM products and opportunity. I focus mainly on establishing myself as a credible source of information and advise my down-line to build destination websites.
However there is definitely a time for the good old fashioned sales pitch. There are two main points on this that I want to share with you as a Ninja inner circle member.
- The Incognito Pitch: Disguising Your Pitch as Something Else.
- The Targeted Pitch: Deliver a Pitch Only to those Looking for One

Disguising a sales pitch as something else is used extensively in marketing and advertising. For example many movies are sponsored by companies looking to promote their products. The choice of vehicle the main character is driving, the choice of coffee shop they meet at or the brand of diet cola they are drinking are often not just creative choices. As a MLM marketer you too can use this strategy to promote your own agenda. For example let’s say you want to write a sales pitch for an energy drink. However you know that a thousand people could land on that page without getting one sale so you decide to be a little more strategic. You decide to use the “incognito pitch” MLM trainer inside knowledge you now have.
So you ask yourself,
- What questions would someone ask that can be connected to this product?
- What keywords would they use if they sat down to search for the answers to those questions?
- What benefits and value does my product provide?
- What article could I write that could sell those benefits?
Questions & Keywords: Well for one you know that energy drinks are for those looking for a boost in energy. Questions they may have may be in regards to the negative side effects of energy drinks, the benefits of specific ingredients found within them or possibly looking up keywords based on the most popular brands out there.Benefits: Your particular MLM energy drink may not have the crash others do because the ingredients are natural and organic. Maybe your energy drink lasts twice as long. Maybe it uses the same ingredients as the main stream ones.
Article: So now you create a web page like,
- Warning…Taurine has these side effects
- Green Tea does more for you than just increase your metabolism
- Why Red Bull tastes so bad
Of course your content based article will then connect to your product. In this way you have delivered your pitch…not just an advertisement for your product but a demonstration of its value. Other energy drinks have taurine which is bad but here is one that doesn’t. Green tea is great and here is a product that contains it. Red Bull tastes the way it does because of X, Y and Z but here is an energy drink that doesn’t. Of course you don’t say these things directly… You provide the service of education and then the service of recommendation.This is an art and as a sponsor you will need to serve as a consultant to your down-line. This is a master level skill that you will need to coach your down-line to build. As an MLM trainer your job will to be to develop this skill in yourself first however. As you build your MLM site it will become second nature.

MLM Trainer Tip: The Targeted PitchOf course there is a time and place for the good old fashioned pitch. Once you have established the benefits and value of what you have to offer your customer or prospect is already sold. Now it is appropriate to close the deal with a sales pitch that communicates the specifics or the features of your product or service.
Remember you do not want to pitch just anyone. This is what most new MLM’ers do. They create advertisements, banners, pitches etc… Even after understanding that they need to build their own website the tendency is to build a pitch site. This does not work. Your goal is to control the dissemination of information and only deliver a pitch to individuals looking for a pitch.
Your home page should not be a pitch for your opportunity. It should be a pitch for you and your site. It could even be a lead capture page. But you want your prospect to have to go looking for your pitch! When they are ready they will look for it. One thing I often say to a new MLM trainer is to hide their opportunity.
Why would you do that? Because you want the individual to be sold on MLM first then you want them sold on your plan. You want them sold on you! Then the opportunity becomes the final piece of the puzzle.
