MLM Promotion: How I Learned the Value of Promotion

Week after week I delivered PowerPoint training directly to their inbox on a country wide level. I received so much positive feedback from the company leaders that this was excellent material and they hadn’t seen anything like this before. At the time no one was utilizing the tool in this way at this organization.

First Call Resolution (FCR) was a monthly lagging metric which means you only found out how you did a month after you did it. Of course I was eagerly awaiting the results and as you guessed when they arrived I found there was absolutely no change.

I decided to pull together a few focus groups to see where the issue was. Maybe they were running into obstacles while executing the new process, maybe there was a new variable introduced that offset the positive results or maybe the FCR Secret just didn’t work. That’s what I called it. The FCR Secret was the secret to improving our First Call Resolution results.

To my surprise I found practically no one knew what the FCR Secret was. The FCR Secret was still a secret. It wasn’t what I was teaching that was ineffective it was that no one was aware of it. I had not effectively promoted it. It was just another e-mail in a sea of e-mails they received on a daily basis. In the same way no one will know what you are doing with your business unless you promote it through your MLM promotion and marketing efforts.

MLM Promotion: Promote, Promote, Promote

The MLM Promotion Strategy in itself is a promotional effort. It positions us in front of our prospects saying look at me, look at me. However every incremental step of the way you must take on the role of promoter. You are your entire organization. You are your project manager, data analyst, marketing executive, promoter etc…

Therefore you should use your organization (website) to promote what you are doing. For example, let’s say you decide it is a good idea to create a survey to gather feedback from your visitors to improve the quality of your website content. It is not enough to simply create a page and put a button that says Survey. This is what you want to do but then you want to promote the survey throughout your website. In this way you use your own website to advertise your objectives.

• Page: Always look to create a keyword based page out of your objective. Don’t simply say this is just a survey. Think, “How can I position this survey so people will actually find it via search engines?”
• Button: Reserve buttons for important pages linking to more related content and to pages you really want to draw attention to.
• Links: Use seamless in-content links to raise awareness or separate floating links to direct to a promotional item.
• Internal Advertisements: Create simple advertisements and use your own website to deliver them.
• Content: Simply referring to what you are looking to promote within the context of discussing other topics can begin the process of creating awareness.
• Newsletter: Any communication whether it is newsletters or a personal e-mail can be used to promote your objectives. Take advantage of every opportunity.

• Pages: Every page of content should promote other pages of content drawing your visitor further and further into your site.
• You: You are in the business of marketing and promoting yourself. Not through sales pitches but through quality content reflecting your personality and ideas.
• Your Objectives: Whether it is to gather feedback through a survey or establish a down-line use the methods above to promote your objectives.
• Outside Sources: Promoting outside sources of high quality non-competing information establishes your credibility and provides a higher degree of service you could provide alone.
• Affiliate & Referral Products: For me I start with a product I want to recommend and then look to see if there is an affiliate or referral program I could use. This leads to high quality recommendations and doesn’t leave any money on the table. If none exist I recommend it anyway.
• Your Down-line: It takes some time to build a business. Support your down-line by promoting for them as they build their website. This will show you actually care, that the system works and motivate them to duplicate your results.

Used correctly Advertising can be a powerful addition to your MLM promotion efforts however it needs to serve the right purpose and done in a way that promotes the right objectives. Aligning all of your marketing efforts to accomplish your goal will help you reach your goals and achieve MLM success.
