The MLM Ninja Story: From Corporate Success, to Personal Failure... From MLM Frustration to MLM Success!!!

I guess it is time to take the MLM ninja mask off! My story is quite the tale but I will try to keep it short.

MLM Ninja Chapter 1: My History

Prior to getting into the world of MLM I actually started my professional career in the Insurance industry as a licensed producer and then worked my way up to a Countrywide Project Manager. Some of my responsibilities and accomplishments at the time included,

• Leading initiatives devoted to expense reduction, revenue generation and process improvement.
• Managing multiple nationwide teams consisting of various levels of the organization.
• Leading customer experience efforts through the development and implementation of training.
• Creating initiatives devoted to reducing employee turnover focusing on employee satisfaction.
• Serving as a trainer and coach nationwide facilitating an advanced coaching and diagnostic curriculum developed to improve organizational performance.
• Reduced people, process and technology drivers of repeat inbound contacts.

I went through a difficult period in my life that included a divorce. Although it wasn’t a bitter divorce my ex-wife and I worked in the same office and the strain of the divorce was taking its toll. She indicated working together was a bit much and she was thinking of quitting. Out of respect for her, who had been working there longer than I had and had a respectable career going for herself as well, I decided to resign.

I always try to turn obstacles and challenges into opportunities. Thinking my resume was strong and I would have no problem finding other employment I decided to do a little traveling before returning to work.

Once back I found that the job hunt wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be. Fortunately I was eventually able to land a management position in Advertising at a local newspaper. Although I learned a lot about Marketing and Advertising I quickly realized that the Newspaper Industry was in trouble. Wave after wave of layoff’s came and of course one came through that finally affected my position so once again I was unemployed.

Up until this point I was always considered a top performer, winning awards and such, but over 10 years in corporate America and I had absolutely nothing to show for it. I found myself flat broke, unemployed and driving a Lexus that I was still paying on.

For anyone who ever read “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” you can see how hilarious this was. I was a perfect example of what it meant to be financially uneducated. I made good money but was definitely living beyond my means.

MLM Ninja Chapter 2: Time to Make a Change

Once again I decided to utilize this challenge as an opportunity. I did a lot of soul searching and came to the conclusion that I had absolutely no control over my financial future. I had spent years of my life working to make other people money and it was time I took my financial future into my own hands.

So I began learning everything I could about money and decided owning my own business was something I was going to need to do. Of course I was unemployed, broke and had no means of securing the capital needed to do it, that is… until I found MLM.

Like many I was skeptical at first. Maybe it was a little desperation that pushed me to research further. The more I found out about MLM the scarier it was for me. Partially because I saw the potential in it, partially because of the high rate of failure and partially because I am no sales person and I knew I never wanted to be one.

But I also knew a large majority of people in MLM were not utilizing the power of the internet and that I was going to take advantage of this medium in my strategy. With such a phenomenally low initial investment I knew this was my opportunity and I just had to make it work.

MLM Ninja Chapter 3: The Struggle

Although I grew up on the internet I really knew nothing about the internet business. I honestly made about every possible mistake you can make. Every month I would do more research, develop a new plan and execute on it and every month I would analyze my results. Nothing. I had no success. I was very naive and honestly did not expect it to be so difficult. But every month I looked at it as a learning lesson. I now knew what not to do.

I utilized so many approaches I can’t even begin to list them here. From placing free classified ads carefully crafting each one and doing split-testing on the results, buying lead lists and executing e-mail campaigns, purchasing traffic for my primary MLM website and so on. Month after month… absolutely no success.

I had learned so much…I had studied master marketing principles, learned about e-zines, mass-mailers, website statistics, html coding, form building, lead capture pages, conversion techniques etc… I developed multiple websites, campaigns, free-products and you guessed it..No success.

I thought I had all the components to success. I was involved with a solid MLM, with a solid product and I had learned so much about the internet business. (you know...from those marketing gurus)

So I came to the conclusion... What I needed to do now was build a better website. I wanted a high-tech fancy flash based website that really looked Hott! So I started looking into various website building tools…the more I found the more I realized that this was a bit over my head. I just didn’t have the time to learn and execute these complicated programs so I kept looking for something more my speed. Something for the beginner.

That’s when I came across Site Build It! Like I said, I already had a couple site’s up with other domain hosting companies but what I realized was everyone out there was teaching and selling only one component of a much larger system and SiteBuild It! was selling the entire package plus all the training I needed to execute on it.

All it took was for me to go through their introductory video tutorial to see that my entire approach was backwards. They gave me the paradigm shift I needed to refocus my efforts on building my business and the tools and training to accomplish the goal.

MLM Ninja Chapter 5: The Result

I spent months going through their comprehensive step by step training programs, executing on everything I was learning and building my business. It wasn’t easy but for me it was and still is so much fun. I don’t even consider it work. If you can’t already tell... this is my passion.

I get to live life on my terms now. For me that simply means I get to spend quality time with my family and I am in control of my life. I work hard but I work for me.

It is such a blessing to really be a part of my daughter’s life. Daddy gets to pick her up from school, bring her to gymnastics, create chalk art on the driveway, play little princess and daddy ninja etc…

My personal mission is to help as many other people as I can do exactly as I did, maybe without the struggle, and gain the freedom of working for themselves. Being an independent business owner is such a joy for me.

I realize it isn’t for everyone but for those that do have the desire I have found a path that can get them there. I don’t believe in hiding the truth, or selling anyone on being a business owner. My philosophy is simple.

My job is simply to give you all the information you need to make the right decision for you... if you make an educated decision to put the work necessary into it then you are prepared to actually achieve MLM success.
